For my third and final birthday dinner of 2016, we dined at my favorite go-to sushi stop - Cafe Sushi in Harvard Square. It is invariably unpretentious, inventive, and delicious. We started with a few rounds of Signature Creations, doubling down on the exquisite Himachi with aged balsamic, grape tomato, and basil oil, and torched salmon belly. Exploring this ever changing section of the menu inevitably proves the most exciting part of dining at Cafe Sushi- sampling just one turns into two, three, four rounds of diverse, harmonious flavors.
We continued with a few Maki rolls - The Salmon-Avo Aburi, the Seared Hamachi Maki - each imaginative and flavorsome. Ending with the standout Crispy Toban Jan Roll - crispy, tender tempura shrimp with avocado & topped with a spicy mix of tuna with cilantro & lime. It's altogether bright, spicy, and rich. A delicious ending to an extravagant birthday meal or the perfect weeknight sushi dinner.
I look forward to each visit to Cafe Sushi and plan on indulging in their renowned Omakase menu as soon as I can.
